Bonding
Eliminate little imperfections
Small chips, gaps, and stains put a damper on your confidence and oral health and can irritate tremendously. Dental bonding is a simple yet effective solution. Bonding involves applying a natural white composite resin directly to your teeth to cover your damaged tooth, hide imperfections, and provide a beautiful and durable smile.
Best of all, the entire treatment can be completed in just one easy visit matching the exact colour of your teeth.
Bonding can address a variety of minor concerns:
• A single discoloured tooth
• Small gaps between teeth
• Little chips, cracks, or cavities
• Improperly shaped tooth
Choosing between bonding or veneers when at first glance, these treatments seem similar, but there are distinct differences.
Bonding is more affordable than veneers. Bonding can be completed in just one appointment.
If you are looking for a more significant transformation then veneers may be the better choice.
Veneers
Veneers are usually made of porcelain. They are thin, custom-made shells that fit around your teeth. This treatment completely changes the shape, colour and size of your teeth.
Our dentists take a comprehensive approach to veneers. We’ll address any underlying dental health treatments before addressing cosmetic imperfections. When planning your treatment, we’ll ensure your veneers not only improve your smile but complement the natural shape of your face.
Crowns
These are fully coverage restorations usually used to fully restore severely damaged and weakened teeth. Teeth that have been root canal treated, those that are heavily filled and the fillings are failing as well as broken or cracked. The teeth are often filled with highly specialized build up material. They are then prepared by removing a small amount of tooth material off each surface and changing the shape of the tooth to be more stable and resistant to heavy bite forces. Impressions are taken of the prepared teeth, and temporary crowns are placed until the permanent ones are returned for fitting. The crowns are usually made by a specialized dental laboratory out of porcelain or zirconium material. They are then returned, and the temporary crowns are removed, and the new crowns are then bonded or cemented to your own natural teeth this creates a very strong long-lasting restorative solution that has a very good prognosis.
Bridges
Dental bridges for better oral health and more confidence
A missing tooth (or multiple missing teeth) can certainly be embarrassing, and it can often impact your confidence. You want to be able to speak, smile, and laugh freely, and a dental bridge can help. A tooth bridge addresses the cosmetic and aesthetic issues with having a missing tooth, but it also aids in maintaining your oral health.
What kind of bridges are there?
The type of bridge you get will depend on the condition of your remaining teeth. A dental bridge needs to be fixed either to healthy teeth or to dental implants.
Traditional tooth supported fixed bridges are the most common type of dental bridge. They are placed by being secured to two or more crowned teeth and they contain “dummy teeth” in between to fill in the gap of the missing tooth.
Bridges supported by implants are like traditional bridges, only they are fixed to dental implants instead of existing teeth. This option is ideal for patients who don’t have healthy teeth surrounding the missing tooth.
What to expect when you get a dental bridge
Crowns will need to be placed on teeth next to the gap, so some dentin and enamel will likely be removed on the existing teeth to make room for them.
If implants will be used to secure the tooth bridge, those will need to be implanted into your jaw prior to the bridge being placed.
The dentist will then prepare the teeth (or implants) to accept the bridge.
Impressions or digital scans will then be taken of the prepared supports, and your bridge and crowns will then be custom-made for your mouth. You will be given a temporary bridge for tooth supported bridges, until the permanent one is ready. This ensures your exposed teeth remain protected.
During a follow-up visit, crowns will be placed and the permanent bridge will be secured onto the crowns or implants and adjusted to fit comfortably.
